It's time to recognize and celebrate the achievements of Saskatchewan's open shop contractors. Open shop contractors complete all sizes of projects from the mega projects to home renovations. They work in every sector of our industry: industrial, institutional, commercial, and residential. They have an unparalleled commitment to project quality and customer satisfaction. In addition, their dedication to the development and safety of their work force is evidenced in every facet of their operations.

In short, open shop contractors are the quintessential PROFESSIONALS and they are eager to show the rest of the province what they have accomplished. Join us April 19, 2012 at the German Cultural Centre in Saskatoon to help us celebrate these accomplishments.

What does "open shop" really mean? Some people would have the public think that open shop is the same as anti-union. However, that version of the definition is completely untrue. Open shop, as it applies to many of our contractors in Saskatchewan, describes a company or work site that may have a variety of labor arrangements, but the employers and employees directly set the terms and conditions of employment. The focus then becomes on the project and not on territorial boundaries of work.
